Types of Heat Pumps

There are three main types of heat pumps, each using a different energy source. We install and service all brands and models.

Air Source

Also known as air-to-air, this type of heat pump extracts heat from outside your home. The air is cooled and then transferred it into your home. This is an easy to install and inexpensive option. This type of equipment may also be known as a ductless mini-split system.

Ground Source

Ground source heat pumps are also known as Geothermal Systems. These systems extract heat energy from the ground, and the alters the temperature before transferring it into your home. Geothermal heat pumps are very efficient and reliable, they do however have a higher installation cost.

Water Source Heat Pumps

Water source heat pumps use the same concepts as air source heat pumps, except the energy source is water. This type of equipment requires a nearby water source that can reliable supply water year-round. A secondary system may be required if that is not possible, or if your climate is too cold to reliably supply water.

Sustainable Heating and Cooling

Heat pumps are gaining popularity as energy costs rise. Because heat pumps consume fewer fossil fuel, and produce less emissions they are more sustainable and environmentally friendly.

In Kansas, air and ground source heat pumps are most common due to the extreme climate changes from season to season. Reddi offers free estimates for heat pump installations in the Wichita area.
